Cloud sync

Use Mis Plumas on several devices with the same account, for example phone ↔ tablet. The app keeps your aviary on your device first: you can view and edit it offline; changes remain queued and converge when the connection returns.

Web version

You can open Mis Plumas Web in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to install. It is the same application you use on your phone, compiled for the browser: same screens, same data, same cloud.

Before you sign in

  • Create the account, turn on syncing and complete the first upload of your aviary from Android or iPhone/iPad. The web app does not create accounts: signing in with a brand new one would find nothing to download.
  • The breeder ring is entered in two parts: your federation code and your breeder number. In E8-2J31, “E8” is the federation and “2J31” the number. You can also sign in with your email.
  • The PIN is the same one you use in the app, at least 6 digits.
  • The web app is always a secondary device: it downloads a copy of your account and never replaces the cloud or uploads an empty database.
  • The sign-in screen uses your browser's language if the app has it (otherwise, Spanish). Once you sign in, if your account already has a language, the account's language is used.

What you can do

Practically everything you do on your phone: birds and their full records, pairs and clutches, cages and spaces, calendar, health, genetics, inventory, expenses, relatedness and the sync panel. You can also view, add, download and delete bird photos, videos and documents and set the profile photo. Files are stored in your cloud account and appear on your other devices after sync.

The data screen can download manual CSV/Excel aviary exports and the JSON AI context. PDFs and other contextual reports that offer a save action download through the browser.

Press Sync now, or let the web app check for changes every 60 seconds while you keep it open. It also syncs when you come back to the tab.

After the first download the browser keeps a local copy so you can keep browsing your aviary through a network drop. Changes stay pending and are sent when the connection returns.

What still belongs to the mobile app

Some features a browser simply cannot provide, so they are hidden or warn you when used:

  • Alerts and reminders: browsers cannot schedule alarms that survive closing the tab.
  • Google Calendar and Google Drive: linking your Google account is done from the phone.
  • Full backups and restores: Google Drive and replacement of the local database require the mobile app. Manual data exports can be downloaded from the web.
  • Camera, QR scanner and “Open with…”.
  • Sharing through other system apps: on the web files download instead; the mobile Share action is not available.

Attachments have a few differences: each browser upload can be up to 100 MB; photos are previewed, while videos and documents download for opening. Camera capture, profile-photo crop adjustment and Share → Mis Plumas remain mobile features.

Browser storage can be wiped by clearing your history and is not a backup: the reliable copy is still the cloud, and backups are created from the mobile app. Check that your changes have finished syncing before you close or clear the browser.

Enable the module

When you install the app, choosing With a cloud account on the first screen already turns it on and takes you to create the account or sign in. If you started on this device:

  1. Go to Settings → Data and enable Cloud sync.
  2. In Cloud sync, create an account or sign in.

Sync keeps your own aviary aligned across devices. To hand a bird record to a different account, see Cloud transfers between aviaries.

If you are signed in to your account but sync is turned off on a device, Home warns you with a button to turn it on: while it is off nothing is downloaded or uploaded, even though transfers and listings keep working.

Sync runs when you open or resume the app, after local changes, periodically while the app is open, and when you tap Sync now. This way changes you make on one device reach the other without closing and reopening it; in the background the app checks nothing, to save battery and data.

Your account

  • Breeder ring or email: enter your federation code + breeder number (for example E8-2J31), as shown on your rings; if you do not have a breeder code, use an email address.
  • PIN: at least 6 digits. Add and verify a recovery email so that you can reset it if you forget it.

Each device has its own session. From the panel you can view devices, rename them and remotely sign one out. If a device is lost or stolen, changing your PIN is the measure that invalidates existing sessions.

Changing your sign-in email

In Cloud sync, tap Change account email. Enter the new email and your PIN, and confirm with the six-digit code you will receive at the new address. No code from the old email is required. Once it is done, your other devices have to sign in again.

If the old email was verified, it receives a notice with a recovery code valid for 14 days. If you do not recognise the change, use Recover my account on the sign-in screen: it lets you get the old email back and set a new PIN, signing out the existing sessions.

The contact email for listings is managed in the advertiser profile. Changing it does not, on its own, change the email you use to sign in to your account.

First sync

When you link a device, the app checks both sides first —what is in the account and what is on the device— and only offers what makes sense:

  • Empty device, account with data: when you sign in to your account, the app downloads your aviary by itself, without asking. If you open this screen later from Settings, or if the download cannot finish (no connection, for example), you will see the Download my data button.
  • Device with data, empty account: only Upload my aviary.
  • Data on both sides: you choose between merge with the cloud (local data is sent and the account's data is received, resolving changes and conflicts), the cloud wins (this device's aviary is replaced with the account's) or replace the cloud (the local aviary becomes the reference for the account and your other devices).
  • Nothing on either side: you are not asked.

The app creates a local backup before the upload or replacement: it includes attachments when The cloud wins replaces the local aviary, but not when uploading or replacing the cloud. Keep a full backup with attachments of every device that holds information you want to protect as well. The initial upload and cloud replacement are complete operations: selective categories apply to normal sync afterwards.

If it looks like the same aviary on two devices: when the birds you're about to combine are already in your account but under a different internal identity —for example, because the aviary was moved from one device to another by copying or importing it— the app warns you, because combining them would duplicate them, and recommends the cloud wins, which leaves this device identical to the account. To avoid this, the best way to add a new device is to download the aviary from the cloud, not import a local copy with sync active. The app also tries to make birds with the same ring created separately converge on their own when it can.

Uploading your full aviary again

Normal sync sends pending changes and periodically checks for differences with the cloud. If data is missing, first check the account, the filters, the enabled categories and the notices in Sync status. Tap Sync now on both devices: it also requests a check of the aviary against the account.

If you need to bring in the full aviary, use “Upload my full aviary…”. It lets you choose how to bring in every record, not just the pending changes. The options depend on the state of the device; after restoring or importing a database, merging is not offered. Decide which copy you want to keep before choosing: The cloud wins is only appropriate once you have checked that the account holds the right aviary.

What is synced

Birds and genealogy, cages and spaces, pairs, clutches and eggs, seasons, health, finances, awards, incubators, inventory, reminders, breeder profile and compatible preferences are synced. Photos, videos and documents travel as attachments with their own identity, not as a local path that could point to a different file on the receiving device.

Nests are synced too. Since 6.2.0, so does the breeder address book: its contacts, notes, ratings and noted birds (also in Mis Plumas Web). The switch that shows the module is an account preference. Since 6.4.0, so do the Feeding plans and the aviary's phase calendar, with the aviary data.

Under What gets synced, each device can enable or disable:

  • Aviary data: records and management data.
  • Photos, videos and documents: metadata and transfer of the files.
  • App preferences: the app's settings apply on all your devices: modules (Transfers included), alerts, breeding, language, currency… The appearance (theme, colours, text size, high contrast and animations) belongs to each device.

Disabling a category stops it being sent or received on that device; it does not delete data. When re-enabled, pending changes are retrieved. Device identity and session, network policy and system permissions remain local.

Multi-device sync connects devices signed in to the same account. To transfer a bird's record and ownership to another account, use the optional Transfers between aviaries module with a QR code or breeder-number search. Manual export/import from the bird's record remains available as an alternative.

Files, Wi-Fi and limits

By default, binary files are uploaded and downloaded only over Wi-Fi; aviary data continues to sync over any connection. You can change this with Attachments on Wi-Fi only.

Current limits per account are 2 GB, 20,000 files and 200 MB per file. The panel shows usage. If an attachment cannot finish, it remains visible as failed and can be retried.

If the connection drops

An interruption does not leave the database half-applied: local changes remain queued and received pages are applied in transactions. File transfers use streaming, a temporary .part file, size and integrity checks, and retries with progressive backoff. An incomplete temporary file is discarded; the local destination is not replaced until the download is valid.

Checking against the cloud

Every few hours, and whenever you tap Sync now, the device compares what it has with what is in the cloud, record by record. If the cloud has something newer that was never applied here, it downloads it; if this device has a change it thought was sent and the cloud does not have it, it sends it again. If a record is missing from the cloud and may have been deleted on another device, it does not resend it on its own: it keeps it and shows it to you in Sync status so you can decide.

To be able to help you when something does not sync, each device occasionally sends a technical diagnostic of its sync —version, when it last synced, error codes and counts—, without any of your aviary data.

Trash, conflicts and status

In Cloud sync, under Trash and Sync status, you will find:

  • Trash: with sync on, deleted items are retained for 30 days and can be restored; restoring a clutch brings back its eggs, and restoring a bird brings back the history that was removed with it. It is not the same as a full backup of the aviary.
  • Sync conflicts: if two devices create records with the same ring before seeing each other's change, both are preserved and one is flagged as a possible duplicate (also with a label in the aviary list). From Sync conflicts you can resolve it: tap Resolve to merge the two into one —the most recent record is kept and the other's photos and history are added to it, and the leftover goes to the trash— or, if they really are different birds with the same ring, change the ring on one of them.
  • With the Nests module on, Sync conflicts also lists clutches left without a place: if a clutch ends up without its pair or its nest after syncing, or its nest turns up in another cage, it appears there with the reason and how to resolve it. Details in Nests.
  • Status: storage usage, devices, apply errors and failed attachments with a retry action; and, if the last sync failed, when and with which code (useful when asking for help).

Restoring a backup or importing data

With cloud enabled, restoring a backup or importing an aviary only changes this device. The app waits for the active sync and swaps the local database atomically; then the cloud screen asks you what to do: Replace the cloud with what you restored —your other devices download all of it, and whatever only they had goes to their trash, where you can recover it— or The cloud wins (discards what you restored and downloads your account's data). Until you choose, that device doesn't sync, and Home reminds you with a notice. If the app closes halfway and the change never happened, everything stays as it was and syncing carries on. If the restore is incomplete, repeat it before choosing.

Google Drive remains a separate, optional backup service. Google Calendar is also independent; after updating, it may request one-time authorisation for the new calendar-list read permission.

If the cloud asks you to update

The cloud may require a minimum app version. If the notice appears, update the affected devices and sync again. Local data stays on the device; you do not need to delete it or restore a backup to clear that notice.

Signing out or deleting the account

Signing out stops cloud sync on that device and keeps its local data. Delete cloud account removes its cloud content; data on the device remains available in local mode. See the privacy policy for trash retention and server-backup rotation periods.

The web version is different: because the computer may belong to someone else, signing out first uploads anything pending and then removes all your data from the browser —the aviary, the address book and the account preferences—. If something could not be uploaded, the web warns you and you can cancel. When you sign back in, everything is downloaded again from the cloud.

Security and privacy

The connection uses TLS, files require authenticated access and the PIN is stored as a hash, not readable text. Infrastructure is hosted in the EU with Hetzner Online GmbH; Mailtrap (Railsware) processes transactional email. Mis Plumas does not use your data for advertising.

Sync is not end-to-end encrypted: the service operator can technically access data for maintenance, security or recovery, but does not use it for other purposes. Your account identifier, aviary data, attachments and optional email are processed as described in the privacy policy.
