Breeder address book
The Breeder address book is your aviary's contact book: the breeders you deal with, how to reach them, your private notes, your rating and the birds you have exchanged.
It is an optional module and comes switched off. Since 6.2.0, if you use the cloud, the address book travels with your aviary to your other devices with the app and to the web version; when you sign out in the browser, it is removed from it along with the rest of your data. It is stored in your account without end-to-end encryption: do not note down sensitive details about other people.
Enable the module
- Go to Settings → Modules.
- Turn on Address book.
- Open it from the side menu: Address book.
If you switch it off later nothing is deleted: your breeders stay stored and reappear when you turn it on again.
Add breeders
- By hand: the New breeder button. Only the name is required; you can also save the aviary, their breeder code (the one on their rings), phone, email, country, area, tags, your rating, whether they are a favorite and private notes.
- From an accepted transfer: in Transfers between aviaries, accepted transfers show Save to address book, and the app offers it when you accept one. At the top of the address book, From your transfers also suggests the breeders you have made transfers with and have not saved yet: you can save them or dismiss the suggestion (if you change your mind, menu ⋮ → Suggest dismissed accounts again).
- From the board: on a breeder's public profile, Save to my address book. And after you open a contact channel (call, WhatsApp or email) on a listing or a wanted ad, the app offers to save that phone number or email. Only if you want: with Not now nothing is saved.
- From your phone contacts: menu ⋮ → Import a contact. On Android you pick a phone number or an email in the system contacts app; on any phone you can open a contact card (
.vcf). The app does not ask for permission to read your contacts: it only receives the one you pick.
If you save someone who was already in the address book —the same board profile or the same transfer account—, they are not duplicated: the missing details are filled in.
The list order —alphabetical or most recent— is remembered and travels with your account to your other devices; the filters (text, favourites, with transfers, tag) stay per device, so a forgotten filter does not make you think breeders are missing.
The breeder's page
- Call, WhatsApp and email with one tap. WhatsApp needs the number with its international prefix (+44…): if you saved it without one, the page offers to add the country's.
- Your rating (1 to 5 stars) and your private notes: only you can see them. Don't write down sensitive or unnecessary details about other people.
- Tags to group them ("Isabels", "Shows", "Club"…) and filter the list.
- Transfers with this breeder: cloud transfers with that account, accepted ones first. Tapping one opens the bird's page.
- Birds with their ring: the birds in your aviary whose ring carries their breeder code. It tells you who ringed them, not who sold them to you.
- Noted birds: the ones you transferred, gave or bought, or that they gave you, outside the app's transfers.
- On the board: if you saved them from the board, you see their public reputation, whether you have blocked them (and you can unblock them) and a link to their profile. If they no longer have anything published, you can unlink them.
Your rating is not their reputation
Your rating is private and never leaves your device. The board reputation is something else: it is made of the public, verified reviews of people who received transfers from that breeder, and the average only shows once there are enough. From the page you can Review a transfer you received and accepted; that review is public.
Note birds with a breeder
- When you mark a bird as transferred or donated, tap Choose from address book: the bird's status only keeps their name —never their phone, email or your notes— and the bird is noted with that breeder.
- When you add a bird, in Finances → Origin you choose who you bought it from or received it from.
- On any bird's page, the Breeders section shows who it is noted with and lets you Link breeder.
- From the breeder's page, Note a bird.
- Under Transfers and listings → My transfers → History, noted birds show their breeder's name, and Link breeder notes the ones that don't have one yet.
Duplicates and merging
If two entries share the code, phone, email or name, or are linked to the same Mis Plumas account (two entries for the same breeder created offline on two devices, which the cloud brings together), the address book's ⋮ menu shows Review N possible duplicates. When you merge, you choose which detail to keep where they differ; tags, notes and noted birds are combined. Two entries from different Mis Plumas accounts are never merged. If they are not the same breeder, Not the same stops suggesting them; entries of the same account certainly are, and don't offer it.
Send a breeder to your phone contacts
On their page, menu ⋮ → Add to phone Contacts. On Android the system's new contact screen opens with their name, aviary, phone and email, and you decide whether to save it; on iPhone the share sheet opens with their contact card. Your notes and your rating never leave Mis Plumas.
Privacy and backups
- The address book lives on this device, in your full backups (the database copy) and, if you use the cloud, in your account. It is not included in CSV or Excel exports, in the AI context or in PDFs.
- With the cloud it syncs like the rest of the aviary: The cloud wins replaces it with your account's and Erase data (in Backup) erases it from this device only.
- Deleting a breeder deletes their details, your notes and their noted birds; your birds and transfers are not touched. Right after, you can Undo; with the cloud, the deletion also reaches your other devices and for 30 days you can recover it, with its noted birds, from the Synchronization Trash.
- Empty the address book (menu ⋮) deletes every breeder and, without the cloud, cannot be undone; with the cloud they go to the trash, on your other devices too, and for 30 days you can recover them from the Synchronization Trash. If you are giving away or selling your phone and want to keep the address book on your other devices, use Erase data, which only erases this device.
